This is a beautiful piece of rough saphire from NC. corundum comes in every color of the rainbow, except when it is red it is called a ruby. when blue, it is a saphire. this piece of rough is more blue than red but actually has a bit of purple in it. you can see the color play reflectiveness just under the surface, that when cabbed gives these stones a “Catseye” appearance. this is a huge stone that will cut into one heck of an amazing cabachon. for a pendant or bracelet…etc. these are some of our favorite stones. we also have catseye rubies, both cabbed and rough
